Bio
Amy C. Wilkerson graduated from Hampton University with a BA and New York University with a MSW. Amy is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who has spent 20+ years as a change agent for New York City's youth. Amy held a variety of leadership roles in the nonprofit sector all focused on improving outcomes for disconnected youth in foster care, juvenile detention, child protection and the department of education.  Currently, Amy is the Director of Youth Services at Sheltering Arms Children and Family Services. At Sheltering Arms, Amy provides oversight for community-based youth development programing including mentoring, violence reduction, work readiness and programs for runaway and homeless youth. Amy led the incorporation of Housing First principles into Sheltering Arms' portfolio of RHY programs inclusive of: Drop In Centers, Crisis Shelters, Transitional Housing and the new Rapid Rehousing program. Amy works to ensure programs are youth centered, utlilize positive youth development best practices and incorporate youth voice. Amy is also an Adjunct in the Social Work Department at the City University of New York at York College. Amy’s specializations are youth development, homeless, LGBT+ and justice-involved youth.
