Amanda S. Chesney, LICSW, LCSW-C, Executive Director of the Homeless and Housing Services Division Ms. Chesney is the Executive Director of Homeless and Housing Services at Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Washington. She joined Catholic Charities in June 2016, in that time she has implemented a number of changes to focus her 30 housing programs towards current best practices to achieve better outcomes for those served by Catholic Charities. She actively seeks to increase collaboration among regional partners within Montgomery, Prince George’s, St. Mary’s, Charles and Calvert counties in Maryland and the District of Columbia to better serve the families and individuals experiencing homelessness. Amanda serves on the Interagency Council on Homelessness in the Distrist of Columbia and Montgomery County Maryland. 

Her expertise as a clinical social worker, with an emphasis on behavioral health, housing best practices, and non-profit management, make Ms. Chesney a respected and sought-after expert, collaborator, and speaker, with extensive experience working with private, non-profit, and government agencies. 

Previously, she served as the Clinical Director and Senior Director of Housing Programs at a DC nonprofit where she led Housing First family shelters, and permanent housing programs among other interventions. Her clinical career has spanned a variety of social service disciplines and settings, including youth psychiatric crisis intervention in Chicago’s South Side, coordination of care for inpatient treatment facilities across the Midwest, and school-based mental health programming in DC public and charter schools. She holds a Master of Social Work degree from Loyola University Chicago and an Independent Clinical Social Work license in DC and Maryland.

An 11-year resident of the DMV area, Ms. Chesney lives with her husband, two kids, and dog in Maryland.
