Bio

Tashmia, “Mia”, is a proud native of Hartford, CT. Since earning her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from UCONN, Tashmia has taught Career Competency Development training to Hartford’s youth, helped locate safe and affordable housing for families at risk of homelessness, and coordinated rental subsidies through a State Housing Assistance Fund. She has a keen interest in addressing homelessness and other housing concerns in her community and beyond, as she feels everyone deserves a safe place to call home. At CCEH, Tashmia coordinates training and technical assistance on topics related to ending homelessness, organizes and creates topic-specific webinars on best practices, assists in statewide projects related to ending homelessness including writing, developing print and digital materials, and supporting local efforts . She also updates and creates content for website resource pages related to training and technical assistance and creates guidelines and tools to assist providers. Additionally, Tashmia leads CCEH’s racial equity efforts – identifying and addressing racial disparities leading to the disproportionate number of people of color experiencing homelessness in CT.
