Jacqueline founded CloseKnit, a research, advocacy and training organization in 2014 to prioritize the deep human need youth facing homelessness have for connection and belonging. CloseKnit champions investing in relationships youth facing homelessness already have with adults in their networks who are not their service providers. Jacqueline learned firsthand about the transformational power a caring adult can have in the life of an unstably-housed youth when, 20 years ago, she and her former partner became the first hosts in the Twin Cities GLBT Host Home Program. Jacqueline later adopted the young woman they had hosted: Amy is now married, and she and her wife are fostercare parents, which means Jacqueline gets to be a foster grandma!
