Bio

Brittney Washington is the Racial Equity and Inclusion Manager of Miriam’s Kitchen (MK), a Washington DC-based nonprofit whose mission is to end chronic homelessness in the city. She began her career with MK as an art therapist, during which she co-created Studio 4 Change, a program designed to partner with adults experiencing homelessness to build power, take collective action, and use visual arts campaigns to influence housing and social policies. As the founding co-chair of the MK Racial Equity Working Group, Brittney worked with senior leadership and staff to implement an organization-wide equity plan, and currently partners with staff to develop and implement a long-term strategy for operationalizing equity inside the organization and beyond. Over the past four years, Brittney has worked across disciplines (including in theatre, community organizing, therapeutic, and non-profit spaces) to offer consulting, coaching, and insight on adopting racial equity practices and culture.
