Veronica is a recognized leader in LA County in the Homeless Services and Reentry sectors. She is the Director of the Homeless Outreach Program/Integrated Care System Division (HOPICS) at Special Service for Groups where she oversees more than 50 million dollars in annual funding for multi-service programs including: mental health, substance use disorder treatment, reentry support, homeless and housing services, and trauma-focused services. Since becoming the Director in January 2011 Veronica has increased funding revenue by more than 1,200 percent and increased the staff team sixfold.

Veronica has worked tirelessly as an advocate to improve and coordinate homeless services in SPA 6 and is founder of the SPA 6 Homeless Coalition. She has played an intricate role in the development of the ever expanding LA Continuum homeless systems of care as the lead for SPA 6’s Coordinated Entry System for homeless individuals and families. Veronica represented the interest of SPA 6 and the LA Continuum of Care (CoC) as a whole as the representative on the CoC Board from 2012-2019. Veronica is also a Los Angeles County Public Social Services Commissioner appointed by Supervisor Janice Hahn. Veronica is currently the Chair of the Los Angeles Regional Reentry Partnership (LARRP) and also provides leadership on the Housing Committee.

Veronica participates as a member of the Los Angeles Ad Hoc Committee on Black Homelessness to address and find real solutions to disparities and racial inequities across systems.
